SiOnyx Aurora Pro
SiOnyx Explorer Kit
|
The SiOnyx Aurora Pro is the top of the range colour night vision camera from SiOnyx. Capable of day-time, low-light and night-time recording in colour or monochrome through SiOnyx' patented Enhanced Ultra Low-Light Sensor Technology. This sensor is the most sensitive in the SiOnyx range.
The camera has on-board recording, with up to 60fps video in HD and still photos with shutter speeds up to 1/8000s. The Aurora Pro also features Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS) which helps to minimise blur and compensates for camera shake. It includes a variety of recording modes, including: burst mode, time-lapse, panoramic view, self-timer, loop mode, slo-mo (shutter control) and HDR (High Dynamic Range).
There's also WiFi, which allows remote-control, live-view and sharing via the SiOnyx app. There's an internal compass and GPS, plus geo-tagging of images and videos. The camera can be mounted on a Picatinny rail and has image invert and angle settings, plus loop mode, which allows mounting at any angle (rail permitting). Loop mode automatically records video via the shutter button or a shock such as rifle recoil, with a choice of 15s before and after, 30s before or 30s after.
The camera weighs just 227g and has a built-in lens protector, 6000j shock resistance and IP67 rating for dust-resistance, splash-proof and water-resistance of up to 3ft for 30 minutes.
Also available in the Explorer Kit, which includes: SiOnyx Aurora Pro, Picatinny mount, IR illuminator mount, 2x rechargeable batteries and charger, IR illuminator batteries & charger, 32GB MicroUSB card & adaptor, IR illuminator, USB cable, Allen key, Waterproof hardcase.

Martin's Comments:
This is a nice piece of kit, and you can walk around and look through the viewfinder without walking into stuff (if you're careful), so it's well suited to scanning the fields at night (you might need the IR illuminator) to see what's about or for mounting on a tripod to film bats as they emerge (you WILL need the illuminator). Not suitable for professional bat surveys; for that you should get our IR lighting kit and a suitable camera, such as a Canon XA, or one of the Sony cameras at the bottom of that page (you may need to turn off your ad-blocker to see the cameras).
