Aspect and Exposure Issues

Sedum plants are especially well suited to surviving in dry, windy or exposed places but a little extra tlc will ensure that the sedums on your roof thrive and look good all year round.

Sedum blankets on high exposed roofs may suffer through wind drying - especially if the roof is sloped.

Consider installing an irrigation system, or be prepared to water the plants if necessary.

Sedums need to be in full sun for at least part of the day - they will not tolerate permanent shade.

Steep, south-facing slopes will dry out quickest and may need irrigation.

Certain features of roof/building design may cause problems through water erosion.
